From TNZ's perspective, both account types are treated identically.
Meta requires additional set-up for a Verified account with the benefit of displaying your Business Name as the primary identifier on messages.
An approved display name and a complete business profile do not guarantee that WhatsApp will always show your business name.
Customers who have not saved your number may see the phone number instead. They can still open the business profile to see its name and other details.
Meta authenticates a verified business account using account activity, business information or documents. WhatsApp can show the badge in chats, business profiles, context cards, call tabs and incoming calls.
WhatsApp Business Platform documentation may call some verified accounts Official Business Accounts.
Meta Verified for Business on WhatsApp is a paid subscription for eligible businesses in supported regions. Meta sets the plans and availability. Available benefits can include:

Completing business verification in Meta Business Manager does not automatically give your WhatsApp account a verified badge. Meta assesses eligibility separately and makes the final decision.
