Connecting TNZ with Sterland Frameworks

Configure an existing Sterland Frameworks installation to send SMS through the TNZ Email-to-SMS gateway.

Set up the integration

This change is normally completed by your Frameworks administrator or Sterland. If you do not manage Frameworks system settings, send this section to the person who does.

1. Decide who will make the change. They need permission to edit Frameworks system settings. If nobody in your organisation has this access, contact Sterland.
2. In Frameworks, open System Settings, then open General.
3. Find the setting named SMSProvAdd. If it does not exist, create it. Set its purpose to SMS provider address and enter sms.tnz.co.nz as the value. Leave the Line field at its existing default or blank value unless Sterland tells you to change it.
4. Find the setting named MailToSMS. If it does not exist, create it. Set its purpose to Method for sending email to SMS and enter os as the value.
5. Find the setting named SMTPFrom. This is the email address Frameworks will use when it sends a message to TNZ. Copy the address exactly.
6. Register the copied SMTPFrom address with TNZ by following Adding a new email address for sending. TNZ will reject messages if Frameworks sends from a different address.
7. Ask your Frameworks administrator or Sterland to apply the new settings. Traditionally, this requires restarting or “trimming” the Frameworks App Server Agents, but the process varies by version.

Troubleshooting

Frameworks cannot send the message

Confirm SMSProvAdd, MailToSMS, and the App Server Agent restart with Sterland.

TNZ rejects the sender

Compare SMTPFrom with the address registered as the TNZ User.

You cannot apply the change

Ask Sterland or the authorised Frameworks administrator to perform the required agent operation.
