How to Request a Dedicated SMS Number or Sender ID

Request a New Zealand short code, Australian Sender ID or other dedicated number through TNZ. Learn what details you need and how to complete the form.

Use the Dedicated Number Application Form to request a new SMS Number.

Before You Start

You must be authorised to submit the application and accept the applicable TNZ terms on behalf of your company.

Have these details ready:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Your company's legal name, registered address and trading name, if different.
  • Your country of incorporation and company registration number, where applicable.
  • Your company's helpdesk email address and telephone number. Mobile networks use these for customer complaints.
  • A description of your messaging service and examples of the messages you plan to send.
  • Details of how people subscribe to and unsubscribe from your messages.

If your business is not incorporated, the form instructs you to enter N/A under Country of Incorporation.

Choose Your Number Type

Under Number Type Required, select one of these options:

Option Details to Prepare
New Zealand Short Code Your preferred short code type: four, five or six digits, with Standard Rate or Free-to-Text replies. For five- or six-digit codes, you can list preferred numbers in order of preference.
Australian Sender ID Your chosen Sender ID and whether it matches your domain name or ABN registered name. Review the ACMA guidance linked in the form.
Australian Long Code (Virtual Mobile Number) Your messaging requirements and service details.
United States Toll Free Number Your messaging requirements, including welcome and help messages where requested.
United States 10DLC Your messaging requirements, including welcome and help messages where requested.

A preferred short code is a request to check availability.

Submitting this form includes agreeing to purchase the requested number or service. Contact TNZ before submitting if you need to clarify pricing or which option to choose.

After You Submit

The form confirms that TNZ will begin ordering your number. This confirmation does not state that the number or Sender ID is ready to use.

For questions about your application or when you can start using the service, contact TNZ.
